EE announces pre-Christmas 4G rollout to 19 more towns

EE has announced plans to rollout 4G services (LTE at 1800MHz) to 19 more towns and cities before Christmas bringing the total to 29 with 10 towns and cities already rolled out with 4G services. 19 towns that will be rolled out with 4G network are Aberdeen, Braintree, Chester, Cheltenham, Durham, Dundee, Exeter, Gloucester, Grimsby, Ipswich, Lincoln, Middlesbrough, Norwich, Peterborough, Plymouth, Swindon, Stoke-on-Trent, York and Swansea.

It also plans to extend super fast mobile broadband to 160 towns and cities before Christmas. Ten towns (Bath, Brighton, Bournemouth, Cambridge, Darlington, Northampton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Poole, Redcar and Portsmouth) have been switched on with 4G network on 4 December. Thus the total number of towns with 4G network now touches 141.

According to the Chief Executive of EE, the rollout in every town and city is picking up 4G revolution. Lack of competition in 4G category will ultimately leave just one choice for 4G service this Christmas, he added. 4GEE Mobile Living Index report also will be released which will show how Christmas shopping can be transformed with 4G this year. Study shows that there will be a rise in the number of 4G users with 39% of them using their smartphones and tablets to buy gifts this year compared to last year which stands at 15%.
