Doreset UK Council aims for its phase 4 superfast broadband roll out

The Doreset Country Council has started its search for the supplier for its Phase 4 contract of building 30 Mbps+ superfast broadband networks under Superfast Doreset to reach an extra 4000 to 20000 premises.

As of now the programme has already completed extension of 24 Mbps+ superfast broadband coverage of 96% in the county with an additional premises of 83633 done by Openreach with their FTTC/VDSL2 network and small portion of FTTP.

The deployment is on going and aims to cover more of premises to get benefited by next summer. But the council wants to get closer to 100% coverage as soon as possible and the Phase 4 Procurement documents explains hints on what we can expect. In total it is estimated that there will be a public funding of £6m to £11m available for the new contract from mixer of various sources.

The new contract will be in LOTS and there is no much details which will be known only after engaging with potential suppliers. There are various meetings with suppliers to be held in this month and in January 2019. The Prior Information Notice is also not specifying about any specific technology.

Even the local authority will also have to arrange for a Open Market Review in January 2019 so that it can help them in finding out how far the existing networks going to reach and where they want to focus under Phase 4.
