Children’s Education Boosted By Broadband Access
As the broadband wars are getting more and more heated up in the UK, there is one sector that is silently gaining a good lot from the current broadband rush. This is the children’s education sector. Recent expert studies have highlighted the significant role of broadband in aiding to boost the children’s education, hence increasing their career chances.
Experts say that gaining access to cheap unlimited broadband means that a whole range of fantastic resources are opened up for the children that in turn could help their performance in school. It is also great seeing that a number of companies have come up to provide wherewithals to boost this segment laying aside financial gains.
Recently, a company called Becta that is following the thoughts of the government of learning improvement through technology, has been distributing computers to families for free, as part of its Home Access Programme. The company hoped that this would help assure that students had internet access for school, as well as college purposes.
Becta also stresses on the fact that something that would effectively make the real difference could be nothing else than the broadband services. This, apart from improving the IT skills of the pupils that is emerging increasingly significant for future life and career building, also would aid in the learning of science, history or geography, by providing access to some relevant online resources.
Reading this along with the Digital Britain concept of the broadband watchdog of the UK, Ofcom, one should see it boding well for the children’s education sector. Especially, when the broadband-for-all concept get materialised. Moreover, this might be one segment where even 2Mbps broadband speeds may not matter much.
