Today, most tech savvy people around the world are looking for a safe and hassle-free way of internet access system. While the market has been thronged with thriving players reaching for high contention, one careful consideration of all the factors and choosing the one that most suits an individual can save him/ her from getting swayed by the lure of advertisement. Before entering the comparison part, let’s have a look at what different connections have to offer:

Virgin Mobile:
It comes with a lonely dongle and does not offer any “pay as you go” facility, neither a free laptop deal. It offers:

Straight forward dongle-only deal gives you a choice of either 1GB or 3GB download allowance with advertised speeds now of up to 7.2Mb.

You can get a short, flexible 2 month contract if you prefer not to commit to 18 months.

Virgin use the T-Mobile network, so coverage is pretty good across the UK.

BT:
BT with a different dongle offers a broadband package with a speed up to 7.2 mbps. This package is exempted from monthly rentals and charges only £9.99 – £39.99 as a one-time set up fee. The range varies with different packages that people can choose to go with.

T-Mobile:
T-Mobile is perceived as one of the old, reliable 3G mobile broadband operators. It offers,

Monthly mobile broadband contracts from 18 to 24 months, with between 3GB and 5GB data allowance per month.

Unlimited browsing: no extra charges if someone exceeds fair usage limit but downloading/streaming video will be restricted at peak times.

As well as pay-per-day PAYG, one can now buy 3 or 12 months’ data preloaded.

If someone is looking for business mobile broadband, T-Mobile’s PAYG and pay monthly packages are all available on business contracts.

Vodafone:
Vodafone is the only British owned mobile broadband UK network. It claims the fastest ‘up to’ mobile internet speed currently available in the UK, at 7.2Mb. It offers:

Good range of pay monthly mobile broadband packages from short 1 or 6 months, to the usual 12 – 24 months, plus ‘free’ laptop deals.

PAYG broadband product has data top ups which don’t expire within a 30-day period (although the credit will be lost if the account is unused for 270 days).

According to Vodafone’s new “flat rate, never pay more than’ mobile broadband plan there is a fair usage limit of 5GB, but the account will be capped/ disconnected if 5GB is exceeded repeatedly.

O2:
It offers:

PAYG mobile broadband from £2 per day.

Mobile broadband contracts from 1 month (flexible rolling contract) up to 24 months, with choice of 3GB or 10 GB downloads per month.

Good range of free laptop deals.

Discounts on O2 home broadband when someone buys with mobile broadband.

O2 also do a range of business mobile broadband and laptop deals.

Besides, there is 3(Three), Orange mobile and many others. Comparing all the attributes to suit individual need is probably the best way to evade the traps.

Popular internet service provider operating in the United Kingdom, Be Broadband, according to fresh reports has plans to supply broadband internet connections for Freerunner the new WiFi service provider in the country.

According to the fresh plans of the broadband provider, the service will be rolled out to Freerunner, for supporting the free wireless broadband project. The main objective of the project is nevertheless, the provision of free public wireless broadband internet access to those communities currently deprived of an existing connection.

It has been further reporter that around forty six communities across the United Kingdom were chosen by the team to be provided with free public WiFi access for a minimum of three years according to the results of a competition conducted by Freerunner.

Be Broadband’s operations chief Tom Williams said that his company has agreed that wireless broadband provision needed to be availed more widely and was proud to participate this mission. He added that the current attitude of Freerunner reminded him of that attitude of Be Broadband at the time of their creating the maiden ADSL2+ broadband network in the UK.

Williams concluded by stating that they were proud to rope in Freerunner communities with reasonably fast and unlimited broadband communities, since the customers of the ISP were more likely to hang out in those cafes and shops that boasted of a WiFi hotspot.

Be Broadband had recently introduced its Spread the Love campaign that was all about tipping the customers with credit worth GBP 30 for every fresh member canvassed by them to sign up for a Be broadband deal before 31 December.

This Christmas is certainly going to be a tremendous occasion for the digital gadget and service shoppers with a plethora of niceties going on the display desk to entice them. Of the hit predicted lot, one device that could evolve into a must-have gadget, is the Novatel Wireless 2352 mobile broadband MiFi gadget.

The advantage put forward to the users by the Novatel 2352 is its enabling them to share between their multiple WiFi enabled gadget (up to five) mobile broadband signals. These devices cab ne personal computers, laptops, netbooks, games consoles, smartphones, or MP3 players. It is a fact today that today even there exists digital cameras with WiFi features.

The MiFi gadget is all the more significant considering the fact that a data card or a mobile broadband dongle of the present times can only be used by a single person or gadget at a time. Here Novatel 2352 scores by enabling the consumer to share signal between five of the person’s devices simultaneously.

Connecting the Novatel 2352 is also not at all a fussy job, as it carries no software installation to confuse the commoner. This makes it clear that the user can start enjoying the service of the gadget within seconds after unpacking it.

Another merit of the Novatel 2352 wireless broadband device is its impressive tablet shape. The device comes with rotund edges and a glossy black finish explaining a remarkable designing session. The dimensions of the gadget are also appealing as it appears much smaller than many mobile phones of the day.

Freerunner, a telecommunication firm fronted by ‘The Cloud’ fame, Owen Geddes, has announced that it was planning to set up free WiFi hotspots at community-based locations. It has also revealed its plans to introduce WiFi costing below standard price, to commercial locations with a view to bring enhanced wireless broadband coverage to the remote places.

The company is planning to offer a fund to fifty free-to-use WiFi access points in local communities across Britain, initially. The residents can apply for a WiFi connection under the company’s new scheme, before September 25. It is expected that the most successful applicants would suggest access points that are easily accessible to the residents of the locality.

Apart from this, Freerunner is also working to provide five hundred charity locations in the United Kingdom with free WiFi. For materializing this, the company is reportedly partnering with Just Giving.com, a web-based charity. Meanwhile, the company will see that a notification is issued to all those whose applications for Wifi access points are approved by October 1 2009. The approved names will also appear on the firm’s website.

Owen Geddes, the CEO of Freerunner, said on the scheme that for being able to function in today’s society equally, people required internet access, and they were largely deprived of this most basic right. He suggested that the new scheme of Freerunner could serve to fulfill the 2Mbps broadband for all proposal of the government.

Geddes also claimed that he had a team on stand-by, which could install fifty WiFi hotspots across the country initially, regardless of the locations, besides working relentlessly to figure out commercial sponsors for locations in the future.

As the United Kingdom is looking all set to welcome the broadband revolution, more and more towns, communities, businesses, outlets and even public places such as airport launches and trains are aspiring to get into the thick of things by stepping on to the wonderworld realised by wireless broadband technology.

Recently, it was the turn of the people living in Norwich welcome the proposal of a fresh internet project according to reports. A fresh WiFi project that can run across the city centre has been proposed by a firm known as Babcock International. This WiFi broadband internet project is expected to start yielding from April 2010, according to a Norwich Evening News report.

The company that has come forward with the proposal could be meeting the business leaders shortly to discuss the WiFi project that could open the floodgates of opportunities for individuals and businesses. It is understood that the company was focusing on key centres in the city such as the UEA (University of East Anglia) campus.

The newspaper had also published the view of the partnership manager at Norwich City Centre, Stefan Gurney that anything that potentially promoted the city for tourism had to be good, and if there was potential to rollout a WiFi network for City College, UEA and the city centre, those were the three spots that could experience high usage.

Meanwhile in Scotland, the public transport is expecting a WiFi broadband access installation in the near future. Under fresh plans here, buses and trains serving the country would be installed with free wireless broadband access with a view to attract more people onto public transport. It is also expected that such a condition would reduce the carbon footprint of the nation.

According to a Scottish government spokesman, Transport Scotland sponsored by the government was already musing over the development of a business case for WiFi provision on ScotRail services, e3ven though the WiFi provision on Scottish buses was solely a matter for private bus operators.
