Even before the news of the launch of Google Buzz would reach the world, Google have come up with a new excitement to provide the fastest fiber optic cable broadband network in US and UK. As a beginning they have planned to launch an experimental network in the US with a speed of 1Gbps (a speed that can download full length movies in less than 5 minutes).

This probably is an aimed to focus the future internet applications of Google which is more interactive and realistic. However these ideas also facilitate the applications, videos, movies, games and other communication utilities that are used online. There have been many such announcements in the past from the Asian counterparts like the Japan and South Korea who have advertised such speeds. But these techniques need a lot of time to get adapted. But Google says that they have dedicated a great team of developers who work to identify the ways of reaching the maximum threshold. The fiber technology will be from Google while the users still have the choice of their own internet service providers. Also they said that the package will be provided at competitive prices to a maximum of 500,000 people as a test run.

They said that they still don’t guarantee things, but they would like to contribute and achieve the fastest speed possible through experiments. They have also requested the Government and Public interest to help achieve the cause.

It has been much interesting to hear a recently made suggestion that the Labour government’s proposal of a universal broadband coverage across the United Kingdom should be scrapped with a view to including efforts to boost the broadband internet connection speeds.

The suggestion was put forth by a broadband market expert researching the future broadband trends in the United Kingdom, Peter Bazalgette. Bazalgette serves as the non-executive director at Myvideo Rights.com, a syndication company.

According to Bazalgette, the broadband industry as well as the businesses in the United Kingdom could deeply benefit from an emphasis laid on superfast next generation broadband internet services. He also took pain to outline a conflict that existed that made clear that both superfast fibre optic broadband services and the universal broadband access could not be introduced through fibre optic cables at the same time.

The expert added that he wished to see the current government apply more stress on the next generation superfast fibre broadband services and less on their pet universal broadband internet service, which was all about a 2Mbps minimum speed broadband service to every household in the country.

Bazalgette concluded saying that he thought fast broadband internet service deserved the first priority for its obviously going to emerge as an economy stimulus.

He also affirmed that a part of them involved a focus on the general web and broadband internet.

According to Brown, if the schools developed online reports that could be accessed by the parents subscribing to broadband internet, it could lead to cutting bureaucracy as well as saving money. This was announced by the Prime Minister during a speech delivered in London.

During the speech, Brown stated that his party would look ahead to utilize technological advances in line to help certain services to become more friendly for the users, besides turning to be less expensive for them than anything they get at present.

The Prime Minister lauded the efforts of the Digital Inclusion champion, Martha Lane Fox in his speech saying that the aim of the Labour government was to shift the majority of their big transactional services towards the internet within the next five years, as a result of the efforts of the digital inclusion champion of the government, Fox.

According to Brown’s views, the customers of the various broadband packages in the UK would also be able to enjoy accessibility by the year 2012, to all public services performance information on the internet, which would also include crime statistical data, sections of national student database and hospital costs.

It has been a refreshing news for the admirers in the United Kingdom, of the next generation superfast fibre optic broadband internet network that are eagerly waiting for it to happen with a comprehensive effect. The news is that the Conservative Party has put forward a suggestion that fibre optic broadband provision rules would be relaxed if it emerged victorious in the upcoming general election.

Alongside, the Conservative Party that is largely expected to emerge successful in the election, has also unveiled fresh plans that it thinks would expedite the fibre optic next generation broadband internet rollout across the United Kingdom. The basic expectations behind the fresh Tory plans would be an emergence of market-led investment in the fibre broadband technology.

The shadow science and innovation minister, Adam Afriyie has claimed in an interview given to the technology website ZDNet UK that if the Conservative Party emerged successful in the upcoming election, they would work on relaxing the rules on the provision of next generation broadband services.

Afriyie further explained to the technology website that there were a couple of models in their consideration. The first model according to him referred to depending on a mighty broadband service provider – BT? - and hand over GBP 4 billion and tell them to have a go at it; this being a system where the money is stuffed into the centre for them to roll it out. The other model, said the shadow minister, was to release ductings following the relaxation of regulations.

As Christmas is just a few weeks ahead, it was warned that an increased number of shoppers tended to ignore the high street enticement, to follow the craze of ordering on the internet. This inclination of the people in the United Kingdom has prompted the telecommunications regulator of the country, Ofcom to issue a fresh advice for the consumers on how to shop online safely.

As part of this move, the week between November 16 and November 20 has been dubbed as the Get Safe Online week, chiefly with a view to increase awareness of broadband internet safety issue among people. Moreover, the video presentation that advises the consumers to secure themselves by avoiding pitfalls while shopping online, has been launched as part of the support rendered by Ofcom.

The telecommunications watchdog also uses the video presentation to advise the buyers over the internet to ensure that their personal computers or laptops were fortified with the most advanced versions of protective firewall and anti-virus software. Ofcom also urges the shoppers to use the credit cards in the place of debit cards while engaging in purchase on the internet for anything that costs more than GBP 100.

This opportunity has been taken by the telecommunications regulator to make the customers realise that they are entitled to a cooling term of seven days to change their mind over something that was purchased over the internet. Ofcom also made it clear that when they purchased from a supplier or seller based in the United Kingdom, they were provided with the same rights those were provided to those who shopped on the high street.
