Cashbox ATM s to be Converted into Wi-Fi Hotspots
BT and Cashbox a supplier of ATM cash machines in the UK, have joined hands for a new project, which is all about installing Wi-Fi wireless broadband hotspots in all of Cashbox’s new and existing ATM places. This five year deal permits everyone to access the internet from the cash machines with their computers and other compatible devices.
For the time being only ten ATM cashbox will be upgraded, as there are about 2,500 ATM’s across the country. Ciaran Morton, CEO of cashbox said that being a business that focusses on the customers primarily, they were continually esearching on different ways to offer service. He added that with exciting initiatives such as the one in the limelight they were extending additional opportunities of utilising the ATM machines to their customers. He summed up saying that today’s people were finding cash preferable to credit.
The general manager of BT Openzone Chris Bruce commented that there was a huge demand for Wi-Fi in the leisure and hospitality sector. Customers using BT could get connected to both residential and commercial hotspots in the country including BAA airports, hotels, BA lounges and Starbucks coffee stores from July 2009.
This is good news for around 4.8 million broadband clients of BT UK ISP with Wi-Fi minutes included, as they can be connect to the Wi-Fi hotspots conveniently. O2 iPhone users are also included in these hotspots contracts through the access to greater than three thousand BT Openzone hotspots. Clients of Boingo, iPass and the other openzone roaming partners of BT, can also enjoy this service.
