Carphone Performance Boosted by Broadband and iPhone
The earning forecast for the full year was raised by the mobile phone retail giant of the United Kingdom, Carphone Warehouse, on Saturday following an unexpectedly robust rise of 88 per cent in half year profits to GBP 75 million.
The owner of broadband supplying firms such as TalkTalk, AOL Broadband and Tiscali UK, Carphone Warehouse attributed the remarkable performance to a strong demand for its various smartphones including Apple iPhone and a rising number of broadband internet customers.
The second largest broadband provider operating in the United Kingdom boasted of adding 124,000 fresh broadband customers in six month’s time until September 30, in the process taking its total customer-base to an incredible 4.1 million. As a matter of fact, these figures are compiled excluding its acquisition of Tiscali that took place in July.
Alongside, Carphone Warehouse has also announced its plans to demerge its retail division Best Buy and the broadband supplier TalkTalk by March next year. It is also a fact that fifty per cent of the company’s shares is owned by the US-based Best Buy. The firm expects the creation of better value as separate entities.
It has been revealed as well that its demerged broadband division, TalkTalk would be blessed with a new chief executive officer that has been already signed up according to Charles Dunstone, chief executive officer at Carphone Warehouse.
