BT Vision launched
December the 4th saw the launch of a new TV service using BT internet broadband. The service is called BT Vision and will allow customers of BT broadband to pay a small set-up fee to get the set top box, however those with a BT Home Hub box will not have to pay for anything. The service offers all of the freeview channels, this includes ITV1-2-3-4 and all of the BBC channels as well as some other channels, however the real shine of this service is the BT on demand paid TV service which streams shows which the user requests without any adverts. Some of the channel providers that have signed a deal with BT include, however is not limited to Channel 4, Premier League, Buena Vista, National Geographic Channel, Universal and Sony BMG. Like NTL Telewest the user does not need to receive any TV single and as such can provide freeview for those who can not get a good picture using a aerial and set top box. The service streams via the broadband connection and as such you are going to need at least 2MBs internet to be able to use the service. This was a long awaited service and the launch has been very quite and as such the take-up up of this service is expected to be low.
