BT TV to close down Vision set-top-boxes and content

BT has announced that its legacy Vision set-top box is slowly being switched off by the end of the year.. Broadband TV customers will have to change over to the new YouView based kit, but the good news is that existing customers having a BT Vision account get a free upgrade.

BBC iPlayer will not be available on the older set-top boxes from 28th April. Broadband delivered PSB Channels will be stopped from 31st May, that includes BBC One HD. On demand content got from Channel 4, Channel 5 and ITV, will also be removed on the same day.

Further, BT TV has confirmed it will follow with the axing of all paid-for extra channels, including BT TV video-on-demand service that provides pay per view Movies and additional catch-up content and also the buy-to-keep TV shows and movies. BT has advised its customers to keep an eye out for an email, messages and letter that will give details about the upgrade option, coming through their BT Vision set-top box.
