BT to Start Launching Fibre Broadband from 2010

Bt To Start Launching Fibre Broadband In The Uk From 2010It has come as a welcome news for the broadband savvy class in the United Kingdom that the dominant fixed-line broadband service provider in the country has finally decided on introducing next generation broadband services from 2010.

The next-generation broadband service is all about the super-fast fibre optic broadband that is expected to deliver an average speed of 40Mbps. BT had already decided on the new service rollout, although a fixed date for the nationwide laying of the network was not fixed until the time of this fresh move from them.

As a matter of fact, the news was imparted by Bill Murphy, the managing director of BT Business, in an interview given by him to CBR. According to reports, Murphy said to CBR that the start of the coming year could see the nationwide rollout of the services that could deliver internet access speeds of over 20Mbps to more than half of the British population.

Murphy described the much awaited superfast broadband rollout as a precursor to their nationwide fibre optic broadband rollout to the kerb. He added that it was too early a time to talk about the service’s pricing details.

Meanwhile, around 15,000 broadband customers have been found taking part in BT’s trials over the fibre optic broadband technology that have already begun in Cardiff and London.

It is also worth mentioning here that BT had earlier in the week, confirmed its starting the trials on the new broadband technology that allows fast broadband network to be rolled out to further distances than what was possible at present.

BT also seems to be confident that its fresh broadband platform can provide the people with a stable service over fibre cables even up to twelve kilometers away from one of its exchange.
