March 18, 2007BT helps stranded Biscit customersBT has another offer for the Biscit's stranded customers who are looking forward to subscribe to other Internet service providers. Almost 6500 current customer can now dial into a special BT wholesale helpline number and can ask for an Authorization code required for the migration to be completed. Once connected to the helpline number, a customer can select any service provider of their choice and also helps in minimizing any form of downtime or disruption in the broadband service. More details can be located at the website where the customer of Biscit is re-directed to. On the same page one can find out a new statement which informs every Biscit telephone user to look for another service provider as their outbound services will be discontinued except for the emergency 999 calls. There will be no disruption in the incoming calls during the time they have been looking for a new service provider who can provide them complete service features. Although another Broadband internet service provider Breathe tried to attract more users towards its service, but then was a victim of lots of legal difficulties. As a result a Migration Access Code could be given by a company who has stability problems ahead of it. Ofcom, the regulator authority brought in new rules where Condition No 22 specifically puts an obligation on every broadband service provider to make this switching an easy talk for all the customers. Thinking technically, even wholesale supplier are required to fulfill this obligation but then it doesn't sound logical as you cant expect a wholesaler to open any support lines for its customers own customers. BT is that wholesaler in this scenario and is taken up this step in order to cater Biscit's customers, a lot of which are businesses. the most important point here is about those customer who are left to pickup new service provider are having no clue as to which one is available with the Migration Access Code. Ofcom was supposed to hire a third party agency, which would be talking care of this job, but nothing concrete is revealed by the regulator. An Ofcom's spokesperson said that the regulator has welcomed BT's mixing and intervention in Biscit's case. BT would still be concentrating on its broadband business to make it more effective in a way that customer do not have to suffer incase a broadband service provider lands into trouble zone.
