BT Retail sees phenomenal customer growth in five years

BT Retail, a division of BT is reported to have increased its customer base to an astonishing figure of four million in just five years. This manifold growth stands in contrast with the ISP's customer base which was less than half a million five years ago.

BT Retail has grown into a market leader in communications industry and its present work force exceeds the figure of 18,000. It offers multiple services like BT broadband, BT fusion, BT Talk Together, BT Answer and Entertainment.

Along with its remarkable penetration in households in UK, it has strong presence in UK business world as it offers solutions, advice and plays a vital role in providing business strategies to the businesses in UK.

Ian Livingston, the CEO of BT Retail commented:
"Four million customers is a great achievement in such a short time. Broadband has proved to be one of the most popular new services ever seen. It is already delivering next generation television, inclusive free phone calls in High Definition sound and great value mobile calls. Broadband can provide so many more services than just internet surfing and it has become central to many people's lives and businesses."

It should be noted that more than 80 percent of broadband connections in the UK use BT lines. Unlike the US, where cable broadband is dominant over ADSL, the UK broadband customers does not seem to prefer the cable network which offers its network for broadband service for just one-fifth of total broadband connections in the UK.
