BT – At The Pinnacle Of The Broadband Market In The UK
Recent quarterly results from BT reveal that the provider has 4.7 million subscribers, putting it in the first place in the broadband market. One of the world’s leading broadband providers of communications solutions and services, BT serves customers across the globe, in more than 170 countries.
In the UK, the company caters to the communication needs of homes, small offices as well as large business sectors. Initially BT dealt with wired phone line connections. With advancement in communication technology, they expanded their horizons to include broadband at home, digital TV, mobile broadband and many more Internet services.
BT Vision (BT’s digital TV service) and BT FON (BT’s wireless hotspot service) have also seen an increase in the customer base numbers. BT Openzone (BT’s WiFi hotspot) usage has doubled too, in comparison with the previous year’s usage. This service is available in more than 50,000 locations around the world.
Although BT has seen progress in these fields, there has been a 0.7 % dip in the overall profits graph of the company, as a result of reduction in land-line phone calls. However, this does not seem to have pulled down the spirits of the provider at all. They are looking forward to releasing their 21 Century Network, which would deliver broadband speeds of up to 24Mbps. Good going BT!
