Brown announces Plans to move more Government Services Online

Gordon BrownThe Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Gordon Brown has announced the plans of the government to push onlineĀ  the majority of its big-time transactional services within five years. The Prime Minister had put it further in a letter to the popular daily the Daily Telegraph that such a move could save precious money.

According to the evidences from the local authorities, carrying out an online phone transaction, on average, could save GBP 3.30, besides the saving of GBP 12 a time as a result of the switching to online from mail and paper. Brown further said that on the whole, it was estimated that this wayt of switching vital transactions could save GBP 1 billion.

Alongside, Brown also emphasised the benefits that can be provided by faster broadband internet services. He commented that super fast broadband services could enable people to hold a consultation in real time over the internet or carry out video conferences of too-way, or access the computer network at the office from the home.

The Prime Minister further said that the investment by the government in the digital revolution in the country would raise internet speeds fifty times speedier than the lion’s sare of the business and home broadband connections across the United Kingdom.

Brown concluded saying that the much awaited superfast broadband network rollout in the country would create 1,5 million skilled jobs.
