Nowadays broadband is speedily becoming an absolutely necessary means for the people globally. One of the many reasons that estranges the common man from the broadband service spectrum is the subscription fees. Some others do not have the essential skill to manage this equipment, while many do not the have the confidence to wade deeper.

The overall usage of broadband is presently below 60%. A study shows that the nation’s 17 million are non users and older people; some with low income and some with disabilities.

It is in these circumstances, the Government’s Universal Service Commitment for broadband is planning to provide network with speed and physical connectivity to all the UK households. Nonetheless, the real barriers faced by the consumer are based on its affordability and usability. The narrow focusing of the government undermines its goal of achieving the real universal broadband concept.

The Government is ready to deliver its promised  interactional service, with a premeditation that every household in the country will be signing up to it as soon as the concept is launched. Broadband is very important for each and every area, but only through cable and wire it can be given; and these account for a price as well.

People without internet access or unable to use it are more. This is a disadvantage. The Government is willing to bring this to an end by demanding all network operators and Internet Service Providers to offer a low price deals  that the consumerers on low incomes can also enjoy this opportunity. However, the practicability of this move is largely obscure.

Consumer Focus, on the other hand has been suggesting the Government to bring Digital Inclusion and Digital Britain programmes in the supervision of a single Government body.
