Broadband Internet Sharing

If you have fast Internet connection and multiple computers in your house, you do not have to subscribe to multiple packages for each of your computers. A lot of UK Broadband providers allows for multiple computers on one network, although technical support is not supported for each system. Simply put, a subscriber is free to connect several computers on a single subscription plan, but it is the customer's sole responsibility to setup, maintain, and troubleshoot their own network.

Although the concepts behind to setting up a home or office network are not really easy to learn, the new network devices available today are created much simpler and user-friendly. This means that you can setup network quite simply behind the modem provided by your broadband Internet provider.

But to do all that, you are going to need one important deviceĀ - the router. A router is a network device that has the ability to share Internet access across two or more computers on the network. Some routers integrate a wireless access point into their devices as an added feature. Installing one behind the modem that your broadband Internet provider gave you will almost instantly share your connection to all of the computers you own.

However, there are some UK broadband deals offered by providers that require a minimal fee to customers who wishes to setup a router. More often than not, these companies are the some who sell the routers to be used are directly. It is also possible that the modems they provide are the dual type -the modem/router in one. For these cases, technical assistance for setting the network up is provided.

Lastly, to ensure optimum speed across your home network, you have to make sure you get the plan with the fastest speed possible. Sharing one Internet access across several computers in the network means that the bandwidth will be shared as well. For example, if you have four computers to connect on a 1 Mbps network, each of your computers will connect to the Internet at around 256 kbps whenever all computers are being used.
