Broadband Enhancing Budget approved by EU

It has been reported that a set of fresh budget plans announced by the leaders of the European continent would help in providing the rural areas of the continent with reasonable broadband service access.

The approval of the 2010 budget by the Ebroadband Enhancing Budget approved by EUuropean Union (EU) that included funding for the launch of broadband internet services across the remote areas where until now it has been difficult to be provided with such services.

According to this, an additional GBP 2.1 billion (2.4 billion Euro) would be earmarked to fund the plans. The funding has been set aside to be used in projects for economy recovery.

According to the European Union commissioner for Budget and Financial Programming, Algirdas Semeta, the latest announcement pointed to being ready for better times, stimulating growth and maintaining jobs.

Semeta added that in spite of the difficult economic climate, the budget for the year 2010 ensured that the financial sources to keep the schemes of European Union was on track as well as being focused on regions linked to recovery.

A relevant news that carried much significance has been the figures published by the leading research body Point Topic through an important research that more than 451 million people across the globe currently subscribed to broadband internet services. It was also revealed that DSL broadband network remained the leading form of broadband internet technology.
