April 11, 2008BBC iPlayer to reach Wii game console usersThe users of Nintendo Wii game consoles can now get the popular BBC iPlayer channels, according to a report. All you have to do is to install the Internet Channel on your game console and this would cost around £3.50. Once you have installed it, you can visit http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer and you can access the videos you wish to watch. However, the full-screen mode of BBC iPlayer will not be available for Wii users. They can just access flash player version of the on-demand video service. It seems that BBC would upgrade its speed of its flash player mode from 500 Kbps to 820 Kbps to make it compatible with wii console. It seems that you cannot access BBC iPlayer without Wii Internet Channel being installed. Anthony Rose , the BBC's Head of Digital Media Technology said: “Unfortunately there’s no alternative to having to buy the Wii Internet Channel for iPlayer web site access at his time. But later we hope to be able to get iPlayer on Wii without this purchase being needed.” | ||
