BBC iPlayer Viewed Directly on the TV by a Virgin Media Customer

It has been an arguable fact that a Virgin Media customer can directly watch BBC iPlayer content on his television. But something beyond arguments is the fact that BBC iPlayer was going High Definition. The popular video on demand service of BBC is definitely offering high definition content both for streaming as well as downloading.

It is also reported that BBC has introduced a fresh version of its iPlayer desktop software, which is augmented to play high definition content for Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems. A unique feature is presented by the BBC iPlayer’s new version to the customers that allow them to check their download speeds, prior to starting the streaming of content.

The new iPlayer version of the BBC also enables its users to rescale their viewing windows. However, BBC does not avail all of its content in high definition format. Moreover, one can notice that BBC has been already offering high definition content on their site for a few weeks. Dragons’ Den and Doctor Who, are a couple of highly popular high definition series already on the site.

Many people are there in the UK who criticize the claim of Virgin Media that its customers can straight away watch high definition BBC iPlayer content on their televisions. Nevertheless, a Virgin Media spokesman’s statement that the UK ISP would be working synergistically with the BBC to realize their objective of accessing the iPlayer service on VM’s on demand platform is quiet worth mentioning here.
