AOL launches a new package without minimum contract length

AOL has launched a broadband package without any minimum contract period. The product named ‘Broadband Wireless Flexi’ will be available for a monthly cost of £14.99 for the AOL customers who are on its LLU network while other users need to pay additional £5 towards monthly cost. There is one time connection fee of £49.99 with the package, however, AOL do not offer free stuff like wireless modem or router or micro-filter to the users who sign up to this package. Since there is no cancellation fee whatsoever, the customers can cancel the services at anytime after the first month.

The new package from AOL will offer up to 8Mbps download speed and 10GB download limit. AOL has also provided an option to the customers who are not satisfied with service and would like to leave. If so, the new customers will have to cancel the services within a week after the connection is activated and they can get the connection fee back.

AOL offers its Wireless and Wireless Plus packages which also offer options to combine broadband with their voice services. Wireless Plus offers free laptops to the new customers who commit to the full contract period.

Vishal Khakhar, marketing director of AOL Broadband said:
“Some customers dislike long-term contracts for their internet service in the same way they resist lengthy mobile phone contracts, so we have listened to them. Our new offer means these people and others can now get a fast, modern, broadband service without needing a long-term contract or feeling tied in should their circumstances change or other offers become available.

He further commented on the scope of no contract period in the coming years:
“We believe this offer will also help bring the benefits of broadband to hundreds of thousands of people. One in ten people with the internet, which is 2.3 million households, still use a slow, dial-up connection. This offer means they can switch to modern broadband internet without needing a long-term contract. The decision to get broadband just got even easier.”
