The much optimistic plans of the firm would strive to ensure that the homes built on the Brownfield site would enjoy direct access to a highly advanced fibre-optic network that effectuates the potential data download speeds of more than 100MB a second. This depot is one amongst the ninteen sites in Gateshead that has been chosen for future housing development.

The most significant advantage of this prospect is that it can be connected to the nearby Baltic Business Quarter to access network by a simple fibre-optic cable draw under the A184 Felling bypass. In fact, Gateshead Council had last year announced that it had already clubbed with Alcatel-Lucent Telecoms for effectuating a connection between Baltic Business Quarter and the international broadband business highway.

Mick Henry, the chief of Gateshead council recently said that the Baltic Business Quarter was blossoming into the greatest communication infrastructure available in the United Kingdom today. He added that the system was developed particularly to pull top quality creative jobs along with major employers to Gateshead.

He also stated that he believed that it would pose simple comparatively, to extend this system to the other areas in the vicinity, apart from offering the householders the potential access to some of the most powerful, as well as the fastest broadband in the world. He visualises a tremendous new development that can transcend the housing potential in this area comprehensively, and convert the Freightliner site into one of the most coveted locations in the region.
