4G Demo Video published by O2

O2 teams up with Huawei for 4GDefinitely one of the prominent mobile broadband providers operating in the United Kingdom if not the most prominent, O2 UK teaming up with its partner for supplying the network kit Huawei have posted a video clipping on the YouTube that shows their 4G network test in action.

The video that was uploaded on Tuesday contains an explanation on the Long Term Evolution technology by Rob Joyce, the radio evolution man of O2. Even though LTE is a part of the 3G technology, it s referred to generally as 4G.

Although it was pointed out by Joyce that LTE could hit download speeds of up to 150Mbps thoretically, it was almost a bathos as the demo itself could only show speeds of just around 8Mbps. Incase of  broadband comparison, such speeds are very much comparable with most fixed-line broadband internet connections existing in the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, it is worth mentioning here that the video showed video streaming in high-definition format as an application of real-time gaming was made possible by the low latency of LTE.

O2′s network kit supplying partner China-based Huawei incidentally has also been the vendor behind one of the LTE deployments in the Scandinavian countries by TeliaSonera that involved genuine commercial service rollouts, instead of tests such as the firm’s UK trials with O2.
