3 UK claims better 3G Coverage
By broadband comparison, 3 UK, one of the five leading mobile broadband providers operating in the United Kingdom has announced the activation of its ten thousandth 3G mobile site last week in South East London at Shooters Hill. The site has gone online reportedly yielding improved 3G coverage besides increased capacity for the area.
The leading mobile broadband service provider had added the site to its network as part of its already launched expansion drive, which according to 3 UK would ensure that its network reached around thirteen thousand sites this year. As a matter of fact, 3 UK is also teaming up – event though partly - with T-Mobile to realise the joint venture Mobile Broadband Network Ltd.
In a press release given by the CTO of 3, Graham Baxter, he stated that the continued growth of mobile broadband uptake, smartphone use and internet communications growth had called for the need for reasonable 3G network coverage focusing on millions of users. He claimed that their network was already the leading 3G network in the United Kingdom and they were currently adding fresh coverage as well as capacity across the country with a view to not only meeting the demands but also bringing the benefits of 3G technology to people that never enjoyed access before in their area.
3 UK boasts that its 3G network covers 99.5 per cent for text and voice besides reaching 92.75 per cent of the British population with its 3G network. Nevertheless, rival mobile broadband provider, Orange also forwards this calim of being the leading 3G network in the country on the grounds of positioning of sites.
