3 to Force Adverts onto its Mobile Broadband Customers

3 Mobile Broadband Logo-Broadband SuppliersThe UK mobile broadband provider 3 has announced that it was currently seeking exclusive advertising clients to sign up for space for advertising until the end of 2009. By this, the customers of 3 UK’s mobile broadband service could expect in a very short time, advert pop ups on the welcome page as a routine on their getting connected to the internet each time.

It is believed that 3 was not planning to offer the customers an option to switch the feature off. This means that every customer of the mobile broadband supplier will be fed with a mandatory adverts pop up set. 3, meanwhile has reassured the customers that none of the ad placements would be obtrusive. On the other hand, the prospective buyers of the ad space are told by the ISP that it would be an opportunity for them to advertise their concept to a large target audience in a visible and bold manner.

The dashboard advertising scheme that pushes forth the familiar 3 dashboard along with the connection manager and a panel for adverts, has already been trialled in Austria by the ISP. The company claims that it has been quite successful there with a click through rate of six percent. 3UK‘s head of advertising, Neil Andrews spoke on the concept that the company had always led the market when it came to delivering innovative advertising space on mobile broadband, for their having a uniquely robust network.

Andrews added that it had allowed them to work out something interesting with not only the mobile content, but also the advertising surrounding that. Meanwhile, it is also doubted whether considering the inevitable effect of the additional graphic on the customers’ data allowance, an exemption would be given on ads.
