100Mbps Fibre Optic Broadband for Manchester Businesses
A fresh next generation superfast broadband internet project has been launched inĀ Manchester, which carries all the potential to be a model for more broadband network deployments in the United Kingdom. The project holds great promise for the main reason that it would provide a service that would serve to fund its own investment.
The fresh fibre broadband network that is being set up in Manchester’s Oxford Road area is quite significant as it would offer internet access speeds of up to 100Mbps. The fibre broadband network installation is being carried out by Geo, a fibre optic network company, alongside the Manchester Digital Development Agency.
It has been reported that for creating the FTTP network, the Northwest Regional Agency for Development has availed a total amount of GBP 1 million as part of the investment. This amount has been made available by the agency as a research grant.
It is understood that the primary phase of the superfast fibre optic broadband network deployment would be carried out by Geo in the spring. The next twelve months will see further fibre broadband connections offered to 1000 households and 500 businesses.
The fresh fibre optic broadband deployment in Manchester holds much promise for the businesses in the area as it allows the firms to purchase access to internet, telephone, TV and data from a range of service suppliers that would lease from Geo, the optical fibre use.
