History
BSkyB, the parent company of Sky Broadband was established in 1998.
Operating its satellite digital services both in the UK and Ireland, BSkyB grew rapidly and launched Sky Broadband in 2006. The growth of Sky broadband is phenomenal and it currently has over 716,000 Sky broadband customers across the UK.
In mid 2007, BSkyB purchased Amstrad, the Freeview maker for a deal worth 125. The deal helped Sky to make considerable price reductions in its DTV packages.
After a brief period of partnering with Virgin Media, Sky broke the deal with the cable giant for commercial reasons.
BSkyB has also made other significant acquisitions that include Easynet and UK Online.
