History
Pipex , one of the oldest ISPs in the UK was formed in 1991 as a company that provides internet solutions to home users and businesses. After offering dial-up services in the early days, Pipex later stepped into UK broadband market and it also offers leased line and ADSL services to a number of its customers under its brand name.

In 2003, Pipex was acquired by GX Networks for a  £55 million deal and was renamed as Pipex Communications. In August 2007, another major acquisition took place, when Tiscali, the Italian based broadband provider purchased the residential broadband and voice divisions of Pipex for  £210 million. This helped Tiscali to become the fourth largest broadband provider in the UK. 

Most Pipex customers get their services on BT lines (BT Wholesale). Pipex had been seen as slow in its unbundling process of exchanges. In the early 2007, it had unbundled exchanges of just over sixty and there are plans to unbundle around hundred more exchanges during this year. 

Pipex Internet provider offers both home and business broadband packages. There are four home broadband deals that come with 8Mb download speed and 12 month contract length. Depending upon your usage, you can choose anyone of these packages which are designed to suit the needs of all types of users. All these packages - Pipex Mini, Pipex Midi, Pipex Max and Pipex Pro can be taken either as broadband only deals or bundled packages.
