    About AOL Broadband Provider

    America Online (AOL) UK is one of the well-known internet service providers in the UK. AOL offers a wide range of internet based services like AOL Broadband, dial-up and AOL Talk. Currently, the broadband division of AOL UK is owned by the Carphone Warehouse, the third largest LLU service provider in the UK. With the merger of AOL and TalkTalk with the Carphone Warehouse, the group has become the third largest ISP in the UK.

    History
    America Online Inc, owned by the media & entertainment giant Times Warner has worldwide customers totaling more than 33 million. Its European subsidiary company, AOL Europe which had its headquarter in Luxembourg launched its internet services in the UK in 1996. 

    AOL UK started offering its ADSL services in 2002. The new service AOL Broadband provided broadband connections on BT lines in the early years. After four years, the Carphone Warehouse acquired the internet division of AOL UK in 2006.

    Presently, more than one-thirds of the total AOL broadband customers (34%) are on the fully unbundled AOL lines and enjoy the benefits of cheap AOL broadband offers. According to the report released in March 2007, AOL has unbundled more than 390 exchanges and penetrated over 60 percent of the UK population 

    AOL Broadband Packages

    AOL Broadband offers three packages designed to cater the needs of both light and heavy users. The highlighting features of these packages - AOLWireless and AOL Wireless Plus are that they come with a free wireless router worth £50 and the wireless support. Wireless Flex is a no minimum contract broadband with one-off connection fee of £29.99

    Not only you can go wireless but you can also connect multiple PCs in a hassle-free wireless environment.

    AOL Wireless package and AOL Wireless Plus are available for a minimum 18 month and 24 month contracts respectively. AOL packages are cheaper for those who are on its LLU network. AOL also offers many benefits to those who sign up to the offers for the new customers who commit to its contracts. The special offers include a huge price reduction for the first six months of the contract with AOL Broadband Wireless offer and a free laptop worth  £450 with AOL Wireless Plus offer.

    You can also add Talk Evenings and Weekends for free with AOL Broadband Wireless while AOL Wireless Plus allows you to use AOL Talk pay-as-you-go option.

    All AOL broadband packages require a BT line and you should have PCs with Windows 2000, Windows XP. AOL packages are also compatible with Mac OSX or version 8 or higher.
