UK ISP Slashes Satellite Broadband Price by GBP 100
An internet UK broadband provider, Avonline has slashed the hardware installation and activation fee of its Eutelsat-based Tooway up to 3.6 Mbps satellite broadband service by GBP 100. The prices going up to GBP 99 a month, is still a frustrating factor, particularly for the consumers belonging to the rural areas of the country, despite the packages carrying with them a monthly usage allowance of 12GB. These prices, although tend to remain reasonable by satellite standards, are still found too expensive for the rural consumers. The Tooway satellite broadband installation includes a modem connected through Ethernet to the PC, and a small satellite dish. An interesting fact about Tooway's satellite broadband service is that it is not only capable to provide the customer with VoIP (voice over satellite telephony) service, but also able to receive Freesat digital TV services of high definition quality from the same dish.
The new start up price of the satellite broadband service package has come down to GBP 599, resulting from this significant price slash. However, the costs for the service rentals remain the same, starting at GBP 29.99 a month. A 2.4GB data allowance, on a monthly basis, is also part of the package.
