Isle of Wight Ferry gets Click4Internet Wireless Broadband

Reports say that the ferry service typically operated between the several mainland towns of the United Kingdom and the Isle of Wight, Wightlink has replaced its old in ship wireless broadband connectivity infrastructure with a faster one.

Formerly, the ferry service was engaging a wireless broadband network based on Moovera Networks. The new service engaged by the ferry service that comes from a little known internet service provider, Click4Internet, will be considerably faster than the old one.

The old wireless broadband system employed by Wightlink could only deliver on-board broadband speeds of up to 3.6Mbps, which it carried out by effectuating a link between the vessel and the HSPA mobile broadband network of T-Mobile, one of the popular mobile networks operating in the United Kingdom.

This wireless broadband network, unfortunately was set back with some highly patchy coverage with its real world performance turning out to be more or less disappointing.
