Points of Interest (POI) like restaurants or coffee shops are increasingly on the way to offer free wi-fi broadband to their customers who visit their shops. The chain of McDonald restuarants started the process early this year and Caffe Nero just followed the suit last week when it launched wi-fi hotspots in assoication with BT Openzone for its customers.

The latest entry into wi-fi enabled coffee shops is Coffee Rebulic which have a chain of coffee bars across the UK. According to the report, the wi-fi service will be started from early next month. When you dine or take coffee in a Coffee Republic bar, you will also get a token that you can use to access wi-fi with your laptop.

Steven Bartlett, the CEO of Coffee Republic said:

"The launch of free Wi-Fi in Coffee Republic Bars will be a huge benefit and attraction to our customers. People are increasingly looking for ways to access the Internet on the move, they want to lead a flexible and modern lifestyle and we need to help them do that with the service we provide. This new service in our Bars will give them a new evolution in technology in a warm, comfortable environment."

Currently, the wifi service has been offered by the Orange in association with The Cloud or you can use the extensive BT’s wifi hotspots network however, you need to buy some vouchers or have to be their customers. However, in a coffee bar like this, you get free wifi access or sometimes you can just use PAYG wifi service available in such places.
