Technical problems haunt Wireless broadband customers on Xmas day

Wireless broadband customers of BT had a tough time in setting up and connecting to wireless networks on this Christmas, according to the report from Customer Support division of the ISP.

The ‘homeitsupport’ of BT said that it received many calls than usual (nearly one-third of total calls) from its customers seeking technical help for problems related to wireless connectivity.

Emma Sanderson of BT reported: "This year we received a lot of calls from people struggling to connect to wireless broadband. People were obviously desperate to get their new laptops and handheld multimedia devices up and running on the big day."

BT offers its Home Hub wireless router which enables its customers to go wireless using their laptops. When people connect new hardware to their wireless network, except a few techno savvy customers, most people often find it to install them smoothly. However, it is not known, to what extent, the wifi service of the ISP also contributed to the situation.

But, according to webuser, BT was reported to have said that 15 per cent of calls were related to software programs while one-tenths of the total calls were made to its customer support with regard to setting up and connecting digital hardware. Another ten percent of calls were related to the new operating systems.
