BT Openzone issues international Wi-fi vouchers
The major hotspot provider BT Openzone is to issue Wi-fi vouchers to its customers who may use them to get wi-fi access both broadband in UK and outside UK. Along with this announcement, the provider’s new plans of extending the present chain of hotspots that are for the use of BT Openzone customers have also been disclosed. BT Openzone has signed an agreement with iBahn to setup hotspots in 1,200 hotels which will take the total number of hotels and Wi-fi hotspots that can provide Wifi access to BT Openzone customers to 9,600 hotels and 35,000 respectively. About Wi-fi vouchers: On the other hand, the Wi-fi vouchers which are valid in Europe can be purchased for £40 and this voucher gives the same number of wifi minutes i.e. 500 minutes or 8 hours and 20 minutes. This voucher can be used in France, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal and Spain. Despite being a bit expensive, this voucher has better validity period (14 days). In comparison, the Americas voucher is valid for a week’s period from the date you start using it. Both the vouchers can be used in the UK. When compared with heavy roaming charges that come with mobile usage outside the UK, the wi-fi vouchers certainly look cheaper taking into account the usage minutes that come with these vouchers.
There are different types of Wi-fi vouchers based on where they are valid. For instance, the Americas voucher can be used in the USA, Brazil, Canada and Argentina. The Americas voucher offers 500 wi-fi minutes and is available for £28.
