Redkite, which is the superfast, WiMAX-based wireless internet access fixed service of CI-Net that serves the businesses in the United Kingdom, is at present being availed in ten locations in the country via an uncontended and burstable 20Mbps format. The service that offers a symmetric internet access speed would cost GBP 3,000 per year, and is being rolled out to business parks, town centres, and cities around the United Kingdom based on demand.
The WiMAX wireless broadband technology engaging Redkite lets its customers to burst up to 20Mbps internet access speeds to cover the internet activity spikes, although only until they maintain within their 2 Mb, 5Mb or 10Mb contracted data rates for majority of time. It is also refreshing news for businesses in the country that the broadband internet service has been availed in an increased number of locations in the United Kingdom, including Oxford, Birmingham and Central London.
According to Graham McLean, the managing director of CI-Net, the burstable Redkite gave extra flexibility to the customers besides peace of mind. He said that the customers’ knowledge that they were covered even at times of their having short time when they required tad extra bandwidth, added to their peace of mind. He maintained that this could be handy in instances such as the customers’ hosting their own website attracting a sudden increase in traffic, or simply passing through the busy periods of the month when they required a bit larger internet pipe.
McLean also claims that at times businesses in the country opted for the service of Redkite alongside their cable-based traditional service, as an additional service, for its being completely separate from any carrier or BT provided service, which in its turn gave the clients additional back up to the continuity of business and extra reslience.
