Malicious internet malwares SpyEye Trojan has infected about 1500 Virgin Broadband Customers. Virgin Media’s security set up, started in 2010, observed this matter and alerted their customers accordingly. The program enters the computer disguising as a screensaver, image file or music file. When the file is clicked, the Trojan program will run with which the hacker gets hold of the personal details of the consumer including his bank particulars. Trojan is just one of the many harmful soft wares that will invest the computer if it does not have proper protection. The affected customers have already approached for security advices. Virgin Media had taken the services of Serious Organised Crime Agency in detecting the attack of SpyEye Trojan. Virgin Media had engaged them as part of their security drive. Virgin Media has advised all the affected its customers how to handle, get protection from and get rid of the malwares. Virgin Media have discovered that 25% of the customers have not bothered to install any security software to protect their system even though it can be downloaded free. It has to be updated periodically also. There are more sophisticated paid security softwares as well. A package of Firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware will cost around GBP 40 inclusive a year’s subscription for updates. Every year renewal has to be made paying the subscription. The free softwares are good enough. But you will get better support if you go in for paid package.
