Virgin Media strikes deal with leading mobile broadband providers
The mobile broadband providers ‘Three’, ‘T-Mobile’ and ‘Orange’ have finalised a deal worth GBP 100 million for an 8 year period, with Virgin Media for executing 14 regional networks of 1 GB in the United Kingdom. This will be of great benefit to the Dongle users. The users can avail 3 G mobile broadband. George Wareing of Virgin Media expressed that his company has been associating with the mobile operators for the last few months in the network installation. The project signifies the re-entry of Virgin Media in the mobile system. It should enable the providers to handle the large load of demands over the networks due to the high internet usages. It is true that high load will disturb quality of service unless the capacity is suitably enhanced. Wareing is confident that Virgin Media is so well equipped that it can meet any challenge. Their network is for carrying data and not voice. In the meantime, Virgin Media is going ahead with its plan of providing fibre optic broadband for the whole country. About 25% or 6 million of the UK homes have subscribed for 100 Mb broadband deals last month.
