Virgin Media sets right the SuperHub broadband router

Virgin Media has taken measures to set right its ‘SuperHub broadband router’ to ensure better performance for the broadband service. Mark Wilkin of the company stated that launching of an R30 firmware upgrade is complete. This will ensure better service by the company for the customers of 30 Mb, 50 Mb and 100 Mb broadband deals. The firmware upgrade will add a ‘Modem Mode’ feature and remedy for router lock-ups. At times the consumers had observed that the SuperHub did not respond to traffic, with even the administration page not available. The firmware will also take care to prevent the Superhub from reloading on its own without any purpose. A memory leak in the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz wireless driver had caused these symptoms. The number of channels available for 5GHz has been changed to 4 as part of these fixes. Virgin Media confirmed that not less than six million households and businesses have benefited by the 100 Mb fibre broadband provided by the provider.
