Virgin Media launches Voom Fibre, new ultrafast broadband for SMEs

Thursday, April 20th 2017

Virgin Media has announced an ultrafst broadband tier, offering businesses download speeds of up to 330Mbps as standard called Voom Fibre. It is focused on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and will be launched on 2nd May. The broadband provider says this service is 4 times faster than any offered by competitors.

Three different packages are being offered to SMEs. They are – a 7Mbps (upload) package at £30 per month, a 15Mbps (upload) package at £40 per month and a 20Mbps (upload) package at £55 per month. The broadband provider will offer add-ons and discounts on its additional services, so that businesses can discuss with Virgin Media and tailor the product specifically to their business needs.

Managing director of Virgin Media Business, Peter Kelley, said they want to unleash every small business by providing them with the digital backbone they need. To thrive in this evolving digital economy, small businesses must have technical ability and capacity in order to focus on growth and development, he added. The managing director said they were removing a barrier and offering all the speed they nee to be successful, by enabling them to reach their digital potential.

Last year Virgin Media launched Vivid 200 Gamer, that offered 200Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload speeds, catering specifically to gamers. The company's move recently to offer the 100Mbps fibre as its standard package is significant, as this beats some of the top speeds offered by rival providers.
