Virgin Media increases broadband speed
The Virgin Media National Broadband package of Virgin Media was earlier known as ADSL broadband packages. Virgin Media has announced that they have doubled its National Broadband speeds from 8Mb to up to 16Mb. This scheme will offer all its new and current customers an opportunity to try out the increased speeds at no extra cost for the first 3 months. Customers who want to enjoy the high speed broadband will have to pay an additional amount of £5 a month on top of their normal package. Virgin Media National Broadband is distributed over the conventional telephone lines. This is available to 99% of UK homes which have a BT phone line. The charges start from £6 per month for a 16Mb broadband package that includes evening and weekend phone calls to UK landlines. This pricing applies to 70% of UK homes where Virgin Media has unbundled the local BT exchange - a process known as Local Loop Unbundling (LLU). For customers who do not live in this area are expected to pay 20% more. Find out broadband offers and latest discount deals from major providers in UK.
