Virgin Media Forced to Apologise to Whitchurch Residents

Wednesday, September 9th 2009

Virgin Media 50Mbps Broadband PackageReports revealed that the dominant cable broadband provider in the United Kingdom, Virgin Media was forced to place an apology before the Whitchurch residents after it had informed them mistkenly that they could access its fibre optic broadband service of up to 50Mbps access speeds.

The internet service provider had issued a press release to the regionally popular daily, the Whitchurch Herald, a few weeks back. Subsequently a story was churned out of the press release and published by the newspaper, after checking with Virgin Media all the facts.

The broadband provider was forced to admit that it had mistakenly mentioned Whitchurch in Shropshire where the locals could not access its 50Mbps service, after enquiries started flowing from potential buyers of the company's 50Mbps fibre optic broadband service.

Meanwhile, a Virgin Media spokeswoman Alison Weir said to the newspaper that they had to apologise to the residents in Whitchurch that thought they could access the service. She added that the error was on their part.
