Virgin Media and O2 win Accolades

Tuesday, February 1st 2011

The inaugural broadband internet service awards introduced by one of the popular broadband comparison websites operating from the United Kingdom, Broadband Genie have witnessed some of the leading broadbad bigwigs of the United Kingdom claiming top accolades.

Two awards each were secured by O2, popular broadband provider and mobile network operator, and Virgin Media, the leading cable broadband provider operating in the country, of the seven Home Broadband awards that were on offer.

While O2 secured the award for the best broadband provider for the year 2011 and the best broadband support accolade, Virgin Media won the award for the fastest ISP and the best bundled cheapest broadband.

While both the awards claimed by O2 had resorted to the independent data provided by the popular research firm OnePoll - it surveyed over 3000 customers across all the leading ISPs of the United Kingdom - fastest ISP and best bundled broadband awards used data from Broadband Genie's 40,000 speed tests and the votes of an industry experts' panel, respectively.

Meanwhile, BT won the final, Most Anticipated Broadband Product 2011 award that used the votes of over 1500 respondents in a poll on the Broadband Genie website. BT had won the award for its continual effort of rolling out fibre optic broadband across the United Kingdom.
