One of UK's leading telecoms providers, Virgin Media, has now partnered with Home Builders Federation (HBF) to provide ultrafast broadband services to new homes being built across the country.

HBF member firms account for some of new home builds across England and Wales, in any one year. The agreement enables HBF members to place infrastructure that can provide broadband lines capable of speeds of up to 200Mbps, along with landline services and over 230 TV channels. As part of the agreement Virgin Media offers to carry out free the initial new site assessments. The operator has also launched, to assist new builders, a dedicated portal that contains technical guidance and request form for new sites.

As part of their own Project Lightning programme, the quad-play provider's network expansion drive, they will offer new build homeowners, who move in, exclusive discounts. The agreement will also facilitate developers with all equipment needed to connect the properties to the network and offers a rebate scheme to help cover costs of the work and a manager dedicated to each site.

The Chief Operating Officer Paul Buttery, at Virgin Media, said the partnership helps developers to construct 21st century homes fitted out with most modern infrastructure to deliver fastest speeds. He also added that the network is growing at a faster pace than ever and more the developers demand, the more they can support them. Virgin Media's ultrafast broadband rollout has currently reached 13 million premises and is soon expected to add 4 million more, of which 25% would be connect with Fibre-to-the-Premises technology.
