A serious break in the service of broadband facilities was what one of the top Mobile and Broadband providers Virgin Media had to face. This outage affected a vast percentage of the telecommunication stalwart’s five million consumers. Nevertheless the precise number of subscribers who had to suffer the lack of broadband services is not currently available. According to the register report, Virgin Media had expressed on their ‘service status page’ that if any of their consumers had experienced the lack of Internet connectivity from 5pm to 8pm on Tuesday the 17th of January, it was because the company had gone through a nationwide disruption of broadband services which had been resolved since then. The company also stated that if any of its users were still having problems getting reconnected to the Internet, they should try to switch off the power to the router, switch it on again after five minutes. Virgin Media also expressed regret for any difficulties that were caused by the breakdown. Conversely the forum Manager for Virgin Media Mr. Mark Wilkin also stated that this outage was linked to a routing hardware problem. It was quite obvious that the users were rather dissatisfied with the event. Several messages were logged on in a variety of forums that mentioned clearly that they were angry and disillusioned. Virgin Media belongs to the business empire of the multi-billionaire business magnate Richard Branson and his realm comprises of an airline, mobile phone service, travel agency, cola, radio, olive oil, trains and financial services other than many other projects.
