Sky and Virgin Media again clashes over Advertising

Sunday, March 7th 2010

Rival broadband suppliers and providers of quality broadband home phone and digital TV bundles; Sky and Virgin Media have once again locked horns over advertising content claims.

As a matter of fact, the Advertising Standards Authority, the advertisings regulator of the United Kingdom has been once again approached by Sky over certain suggestions made in a direct mail material by Virgin Media.

In the direct mail, Virgin Media has implied that it offered better value broadband packages than Sky and that the latter's customers could not receive one comprehensive bill for their services.

bundle delivery of broadband, TV and home phone services billed together, helped the customers save money and that it only intended to underscore the fact that a single bill was served to its own customers.

Neverthless, the advertisings regulator has upheld the complaints of both the broadband providers and has asked Virgin Media not to publish the advertisement any more in its current form.
