More than 10 million premises in the UK brought under fibre broadband services by Virgin Media
Thanks to Virgin Media, more than 10 million premises in the UK can enjoy the benefits of the fibre broadband services. As part of its national rollout plan, in the cabled areas of Bromley, Norton Hawkfield in Somerset Dundee and Staverton in Gloucestershire Virgin Media have launched 100 Mb services. A spokesman of the firm said that the firm provides super fast speeds in these areas and in a couple of minutes consumers can download even high quality movies. The firm announced that its work on super fast 100 Mb broadband is ahead of schedule and it is expected to be completed this Spring instead of mid-2012. The Executive Director of Broadband in Virgin Media, Mr Jon James said that the firm would be providing super fast 100 Mb broadband to 50% of the UK in the very near future. He continued that it is his firm’s aim to take the UK up the global broadband rankings. Now people want to say good bye to DSL and they want the super fast fibre optic speeds. He added that during the last week, the communications regulator, Ofcom has confirmed Virgin Media as the fastest broadband provider in the country. The director said that with the exciting TiVo TV service, the firm has an amazing combination that enables its customers to make use of the digitally connected world to the fullest extent. Virgin Media had announced its plan to double the speeds on its 10 Mb, 20 Mb and 30 Mb broadband packages. The download speeds of subscribers on 50 Mb or 100 Mb broadband deals will be increased to 120 Mb shortly. It would help to increase the range of options and Virgin Media customers could stream high definition TV services or play games or download albums over the internet.
