More people subscribes to Virgin Media
In the three months to September 30th, Virgin media saw an addition of 6,300 net cable subscribers. Last quarter, the provider had lost 36,000 users and the company hopes to compensate it in the coming months.
Although, the operating income for the provider increased by 26 per cent for the period July-September to £128.4 million, it had to face £73.7 million pre-tax loss after a chain of one-off charges.
Virgin media claims that among its 4.79 million cable customers, one fourth are now subscribing for speeds in excess of 20Mb. In the UK, people are demanding for better broadband connectivity, said Chief Executive at Virgin Media, Neil Berkett. Virgin media is now deploying 100Mb fibre broadband services to customers in the UK. Over six million homes are already able to subscribe for super fast internet services.
