ASA Defends Virgin Media Broadband Adverts

The Mother of All Broadband advertisements thrown by Virgin Media, the most popular cable broadband provider in the United Kingdom, have been yet again protected by the ASA (Advertising Standard Authority), the advertisements watchdog of the UK.

Virgin Media Mother Of All Broadband AdAs a matter of fact, popular actor Samuel Jackson had fronted the cable broadband provider's 50Mbps fibre broadband service's marketing campaign, last year. Ever since the launch of the marketing campaign, it had become the target of complaints by rival broadband service provider BT.

However, this time the complaints had come from a different broadband supplier. Sky Broadband, the fresh complainant had raised concerns with the ASA, none of that were upheld by the advertising regulator ultimately. The main issue of Be Broadband was Virgin Media's 'mother of all broadband' claim.

Be also argued that its 'future proof' expression was also misleading. Nonetheless, the advertising watchdog responded that they had come to a conclusion that the readers were likely to conceive that Virgin Media was trying to highlight the fact that the broadband service launched by them were based on a technology that transcended the ADSL broadband technology.
