Xbox 360 Video Store to unveil on 11th December

Thursday, December 6th 2007

The Xbox LIVE Marketplace video store is about to make its entry in the UK on 11th December. The Xbox video rental scheme which is common place in the US will be available to the internet users in the UK at two different flat rates - £2 or 250 points for the standard version of the movie and £3 or 380 points for the HD copy of the movie.

Xbox already announced the titles of the movies that the users can buy and download as soon the service is launched. While new movies like 300, the Good German and Harry Potter are included in the list, the majority of the titles are a bit old, however, the blockbuster movies like Matrix, Lethal Weapon 3 and 4 will attract many movie lovers.

It seems that only standard or HD versions of movies can be downloaded, as Xbox is yet mention about the downloadable TV programmes or series. When you buy a title, you have to download the full lengthy movie of size between 2 GB and 5 GB and this may take different durations depending upon the connection speed. It is also likely that this service may lead to traffic congestion during peak hours if many users go for downloading movies.

As such, the traffic issues, if they occur, will be handled by most ISP with traffic policy, which will further complicate the problems.
