The third largest UK broadband provider in the, the Carphone Warehouse suffered a set back when its take over bid of £550 was rejected by Tiscali and also could not make it in the shortlist of next round bidders for Tiscali thus sealing all its chances to acquire the Italian based ISP.


According to a report, Mario Rosso, CEO of Tiscali has released the list of six bidders that include BT, BSkyB and Vodafone who are expected to announce higher bids in the next round.


Meanwhile, other providers like Fast-Web and Virgin Media are also likely to bid for Tiscali broadband division, according to some sources.


Tiscali, the fourth largest ISP in the UK, has more than 1.8 million broadband customers. The latest Q1 results from the company shows that it has added 46,000 new customers during the quarter and it has 780,000 direct customers and 830,000 customers signed up to its dual play services. The report also shows that Tiscali has penetrated more than 55% of the areas in the UK.
