O2 figures in top five list relased by Epitro
The latest Internet Performance Indicator (IPI) report for the combined Q3 & Q4 for 2007 from Epitro indicates significant changes as far as the performance of the major ISPs is concerned. While BT still figures on the top5 ADSL broadband providers out of the chosen 11 ISPs, it is interesting to note that the new entrant O2 broadband occupies the third place thanks to its high speed broadband which is found to be more reliable on it LLU network. Pitifully, AOL and Demon which figured in the top five list for the last two quarters could not find a place in the recent list, while Orange broadband provider is included in the list. Likewise, other major ISPs like TalkTalk, Virgin and Tiscali have also failed to make it in the list; it seems the recent trend has been changing towards highspeed broadband internet. What is an interesting fact is that O2, which launched its own products only in the middle of 2007, showed improved performance even pushing the other major ISPs aside and taking the third place in the table. Orange which revamped its product line last year by including free line rental also succeeded to make it in the top five list. Lately, the ISP also joined forces with wifi hotspot providers like The Cloud to announce wifi vouchers for its customers. It should be noted that Epitro only includes eleven ISPs out of numerous ADSL broadband providers in UK for its test while excluding cable ISPs like Virgin to find the best five ISPs only in terms of technical excellence.
